The driving force behind Big Horse Band since 2011. Carl’s vision blends professional performance with a passion for horse rescue. He’s the architect of the band’s mission and the heart of their sound.
Carl’s vocal style and stage presence are a dynamic blend of rock ‘n’ roll royalty and outlaw country grit. His performances draw heavily from the charismatic energy of Elvis Presley and the storytelling soul of Waylon Jennings, grounded by the quintessential American rock sound of Creedence Clearwater Revival. Influenced by the smooth, modern country appeal of Kenny Chesney and the infectious, upbeat spirit of Micky Dolenz, Carl delivers a vocal performance that bridges generations. This mix of legendary influences allows him to navigate the band's diverse repertoire with an authentic, high-energy delivery that keeps crowds engaged from the first note to the last.
Carl’s musical journey began not in a studio, but in front of a flickering television set, captivated by the infectious energy of The Monkees. Inspired by the show’s blend of comedy and rock ‘n’ roll, he first picked up the drumsticks, spending years mastering the rhythm and pocket that define classic hits. That foundational love for performance eventually led him out from behind the kit to center stage. Today, Carl fronts The Big Horse Band, channeling that same lifelong passion into every vocal and guitar line while steering the band’s mission to support horse rescue.
What began as a personal mission in 2011 has evolved into a powerhouse of the local music scene. Carl founded The Big Horse Band with a singular, heartfelt goal: to use the power of rock and country music to raise awareness and funding for his horse rescue, Lil' R&R Farm. From those early days of playing for the cause, the band’s reputation for professional, high-energy performances quickly grew. Over the years, they have brought their signature sound to dozens of carnivals, county fairs, local bars, and exclusive private events, proving that great music sounds even better when it’s played for a greater purpose.
When looking back at the band's history, Carl often points to the old TGI Fridays in Flemington as one of his favorite stops on the circuit. Before it closed its doors, the venue was a local staple that always guaranteed a high-energy crowd and a great time.
